BX822 Centerlock Economy Hubset

The BX822 Economy Centerlock hubs are similar to the BX106R, but feature less machining on the hub shell and three pawls on the rear freehub instead of six. This reduces manufacturing and assembly time. CHL bearings are also used to reduce the production cost.

The BX106 hubs are the lighter, DCR premium centerlock. These, the BX822, are the new DCR economy centerlock.

The idea of the BX822 is to provide a hubset which is ‘economical but not disposable’.  So often economical hubsets are built to be thrown away further down the line.  The service life of this hubset is just as long as the more premium BX106 hubset.  The bearings are the same size and are standard designations of 6902 or 6802.  The carrying capacity is high for a hubset of its size.  It is ideal for commuter sets for example, where high mileage and year round use prevails but riders are less weight conscious.  If in the future you sought faster pickup or an alternative groupset then BX106R freehub bodies – the 48pt varieties all fit.  So upgrade potential remains for the future – they are also compatible with a big range of axle interfaces.
